56A Infoshop

For over thirty years 56A Infoshop has been a volunteer-run, DIY social centre tucked behind the Elephant & Castle markets. It shares a collectively-run building with a food co-op and bike workshop and offers radical books, zines and a massive open-access archive covering topics from anti-colonialism to queer politics. Drop in for free tea and coffee, peruse 70,000 pamphlets and chat with neighbours about local campaigns. The space fits about fifteen inside and more in the yard; meetings are free and the squatters' noticeboard still hums with whispered tips.
