Abney Park Cemetery is a tangle of ivy, toppled gravestones and winding paths where an abandoned Gothic chapel once crumbled into ruin. Restoration work has stabilised the Grade II listed chapel so it can once again host music, poetry and community gatherings. Hackney Council calls it a unique events space for up to 70 people - perfect for art exhibitions, screenings and intimate ceremonies. The wildness of the surrounding graveyard lends every event a whisper of the untamed.
