Brompton Cemetery Chapel

Stone angels smile as violins play beneath crumbling vaults.

Among the rotting tombs and overgrown catacombs of Brompton Cemetery, a small chapel hums with life. The Friends of Brompton Cemetery programme art and music events in this space and invite proposals from artists and musicians. Decaying monuments and collapsing catacombs lend the grounds an eerie, romantic air, and the catacombs are only opened once a year because of their disrepair. When music drifts from the chapel, stone angels seem to listen.
