Charterhouse by Candlelight
Flickering candlelight runs down flagstones older than memory.
For one special evening the Charterhouse's medieval and Tudor buildings are lit only by candles. After a welcome drink in the Great Chamber, a guide leads you through cloisters, chapels and courtyards where monks, courtiers and schoolboys once walked. The flicker of flame on stone reveals carvings and coats of arms; it feels like eavesdropping on centuries of whispered prayer and intrigue.
