Friends House (Quaker Meeting House)

Silence thick as velvet; a circle of chairs welcomes anyone who longs for stillness.

Opposite Euston Station stands a 1920s building of Portland stone that houses the central offices of Britain's Quakers. Friends House offers worship space, a cafe, bookshop and library and serves as the principal venue for Quaker meetings. The unadorned meeting room invites visitors to sit in silence and wait for the still, small voice within. Upstairs are corridors filled with archives and activism; downstairs, strong coffee and kind eyes.
