Islington Death Café at Central Library

Library light, cake on plates and voices murmuring about life's final chapter.

In the upstairs gallery of Islington's Central Library, small tables seat groups of four or five for tea, coffee and plentiful cake. Experienced facilitators who once ran Age UK Islington Death Cafes at the Almeida Theatre hold the space so that everyone has a chance to speak and listen. The gatherings are free and accessible by lift, welcoming anyone who wishes to explore mortality in community. It's a gentle introduction to talking about death in a familiar public space.
