The George Inn

A timber-galleried inn echoing with centuries of stories

Just off Borough High Street stands London's last remaining galleried coaching inn. The George dates to the 17th century and was rebuilt after the Great Fire, retaining timber galleries overlooking a cobbled courtyard. Sitting by the fireplace with a pint, one feels the footsteps of Dickensian characters and weary travellers beneath the creaking beams.
